“The Welcome Network aims to create spaces for neighbours and agencies to come together, build relationships, and reduce stigma by providing an accessible and welcoming environment to access food, activities and support.
The Welcome Network became a Feeding Britain pilot in 2017 with a commitment to focus on community led approaches to food insecurity. They are focused on developing ‘meeting places’, community hubs which provide food and wider support. These include holiday projects, community cafes, community meals, and more informal meet ups where people can learn cooking skills while socialising.

Work Priorities

  1. Support meeting places in Chester, Blacon, Lache, Ellesmere Port, and Neston and develop more in Northwich and Winsford.
  2. Implement active community engagement, ‘Your Money, Your Health’ sessions, in Blacon. The sessions will be delivered in 6 week blocks and will cover a range of topics including cookery, budgeting and food waste etc.
  3. Build a core volunteer base that will receive training and employment upskilling in Mental Health, First Aid, and Food Hygiene.
  4. Expand active community engagement in Chester, Lache, Ellesmere Port and Neston
