Food Poverty Changing the Story

Back to News & Views

Join us on the 14th of March for a discussion on hunger in the UK.

Hunger is increasingly becoming a mode of existence in the UK. Over half a million UK children live in families unable to provide a minimally acceptable diet. Refusal of the UK Government to recognise the existence of, and address food poverty has also resulted in food aid becoming institutionalised in the UK. The purpose of this event is to discuss and debate solutions to address food poverty to change the story of food poverty in the UK.

Our National Director, Rosie Oglesby, will be speaking at the event alongside:

  • Dr. John Cater, Vice Chancellor of Edge Hill University
  • Professor Martin Caraher, Professor of Food & Health Policy at the Centre for Food Policy at City, University of London
  • Dr Kathleen Mooney, Senior Lecturer in Nutrition & Health at Edge Hill University
  • Gerard Woodhouse, Labour Councillor for Liverpool County Ward & Food Bank Manager
  • Robbie Davison, Director of Can Cook.

Date: Wednesday 14th March
